Season of Awakening
January 24, 2016

“Awake, my soul!” says the Psalmist. “Awake, harp and lyre!  I will awaken the dawn.”  (Psalm 57:8)  Epiphany is a season of awakening.  From the darkness of mid-winter, light begins to grow and fill the earth once again.  We celebrate the great self-giving of God, “making known” God’s presence and purpose and power in the world.  The calling of people of faith is to awaken to this glory … to live lives fully alive, fully conscious and attentive to the new work of grace that God is about.  In this “Season of Seasons,” we awaken to God with us, leading us into new days.

Second Sunday of Christmas
January 3, 2016
Almighty God, you have filled all the earth with the light of your incarnate Word. By your grace empower us to reflect your light in all that we do, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
